WCMD 2014- Play Outdoors

Hi, It's me again, with another of my challenge cards for World Card Making Day 2014 Challenges at the Winnie&Walter blog.

This card is for Sketched w/ Julie- Challenge #5.  The sketch for this challenge is;
 And this is my entry!
The Spotlights were cut with Standard Circle dies from Spellbinder's and stamped with Scenery: Big Bang Confetti set by Winnie&Walter,
Ribbon:  Fireworks paper from Hot Off the Press,
Stamped image: Pure Innocence Cowgirl from My Favorite Things colored with Copic markers,
and Sentiment: "Play Outdoors" from The Big, The Bold & Fun set from Winnie&Walter.
Embellishment: Stickles by Ranger

I got the sentiment to curve around the bend of the card by snipping between the letters with my Cutter Bee scissors, just enough to let it bend. I didn't cut all the way through the stamp though.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing all the cards I had fun making this past weekend.  Again, as I mentioned in the first post today, the challenges are still open and you can post your entries or comments on the design teams projects any time between now and Saturday at 11:55 pm.

Embossing folder:  Juliet Damask by Anna Griffin,
and Embellishment: Liquid Pearls-petal pink by Ranger.

This is a very elegant card that could be used for any time of the year, especially Mother's Day, a special birthday, Thanksgiving, or sent to anyone you are thankful for. I hope you have enjoyed this card. Have a wonderful day, and "Thanks" for visiting my blog.

Our Family Stay-cation . . . Boring!

Greetings All!  Summer is here, and vacations are on the rise.  Here is a card to celebrate "staying at home" instead of "hitting the road" this year!

A friend of mine had to inform her kids today, that there would be no vacation trip this year, and they would have to enjoy staying home this summer!  Of course, the reply was "Boring"!  School has only been out less than a week, and they are already bored silly.

To start, I used a precut A2 size card and attached a piece of patterned paper to it.  I stamped this image, one of Janie's Girls from Hot Off the Press on X-press blending card and colored it in with my Copic markers. I then stamped the plumeria flowers from the Tropicals flower stamp from Stampendous, and trimmed along one edge. These were also colored with Copics. I fussy cut around both the girl stamp and flowers, and then mounted them to the background with foam adhesive tape. Before attaching the girl's image to the floral background, I attached a square of vellum that I embossed in my Stripes Embossing Folder by running through my Cuttlebug machine. It diffused the bright flowers from the background, so the girl's image could more readily be seen.  I then stamped the saying from one of Winnie & Walter's new stamp sets, "The Big, the Bold, and Fun" stamp set.

After I finished this card, and was writing this post, I decided the plumeria needed a tiny pearl in the center of each flower.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. I took off a little time last week to work on some "special" projects, and to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday. I am now back on track and will visit again with you soon.
Happy Stamping!

Birthday Cutie

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's always nice to celebrate a birthday. Today we are celebrating with Katie, one of Julie Nutting's Prima Doll Stamps. I started this card with papers I ordered from Classy Cards 'N Such Online Store.  I used the Silver Metallic and Stardream Punch Metallic card stock to die cut the Scallop Polka Dot frame from Sizzix, punching one of each color. I also used the Silver for the card base and Stardream Onyx Metallic for the background. I then stamped Katie on a sheet of Xpress Blending card stock and colored her with Copic markers.  After mounting her on a sheet of printed paper, I trimmed her to fit the opening of the frame, and glued the paper inside the edge of the frame. I also die cut four corner adornments from the same die set and adhered them to the four corners of the card base.

To assemble the card, I used foam tape to adhere the frame unit to the card front, to give it more dimension. I also added some Prima flowers, some ribbon, and a happy birthday tag to the side of the frame.  I also added small pink rhinestones to the right of the image, and a tiny birthday hat to Katie's head. The birthday hat was made from one of Winnie & Walter's New stamp sets, "Rectangled &Triangled!

I am entering this birthday card in the Weekly Challenge at Classy Cards 'N Such -Birthday Wishes

I hope you are having a wonderful week, full of happiness and best wishes. Take time to make a birthday card for someone you love. See you soon!

Bake Mom a Cake!

Mother's Day is coming this Sunday, May 11, 2014. You still have time to make your Mother a card, and when paired with some flowers or a gift bag of crafty items you can be sure Mom will have a happy day! I stamped and colored this wonderful Cupcake decorated cake, and to me it looks "good enough to eat!"

I stamped this wonderful rubber stamp from Impression Obsession called "Cupcakes".  It is available in the Classy Cards 'N Such online store along with other media to color in the details of this stamp. I stamped my image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and colored it in with various alcohol based markers, such as Copic's, Spectrum Noir, or Touch markers from ShinHanArt.  The sentiment used is from the "Parentville" clear set from Winnie& Walter, llc. After coloring, I mounted the image on a red A2 card front and edged around the card with a red Copic marker and bright pink Wink of Stella glitter pen.

I am entering this card in the Classy Cards 'N Such Weekly Challenge # 31, Mother's Day.  Be sure to check out all of the wonderful ideas by other stampers and the talented design team at Classy Cards.

See you again soon.

Taylor Made Tag . . . . . Take Time!

I'm still playing with my New Julie Nutting Doll Stamps by Prima. Today's tag/card uses the doll named "Taylor". I started by making a card from two tags, using the Julie Nutting Tag Pad. I adhered the tags together at the top of the tag, and then started to decorate them.  I adhered printed scrap book paper to the front, and then stamped flowers and clock faces over the front of the tag using Ranger Archival ink in Sepia. While the papers were drying, I stamped Taylor on the Julie Nutting "Buff" paper pad and colored in her clothes and hair with Copic markers.  After fussy cutting around the doll, I adhered her to the left side of the tag using foam tape for dimension.

On the right hand side of the tag I die cut some leaf shapes  from a Tim Holtz Alterations die, and shaded them with my Copic markers. I combined them with flowers and leaves from the Prima Cartographer Collection and some covered wire springs.  The flowers have a little glitter on them, so I added a piece of sparkly gold trim across the bottom of the tag, some Maya Road Ginger Twine tied around the tag, and a crinkly rust bow tied at the top of the tag/card.

To complete the tag, I stamped a few open circles from the Scenery: Big Bang Confetti clear stamp set from Winnie & Walter set, to fill in between elements.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and come to visit with me again soon.

Gifts For You!

Greetings one and all! Welcome to another wonderful week of cards and projects from my studio.
Today's card is a new stamp I just received from Classy Cards 'N Such; an Impression Obsession cling stamp called Flower Gift Boxes. I fell in love with this stamp, and knew I had to order it.

I had so many decisions to make before stamping it, what media I wanted to use to color it, and then what type of paper to stamp it on.  I decided to used my Inktense Watercolor pencils from Derwent and so I stamped it on watercolor paper with Ranger Archival Jet Black waterproof ink.
I then started coloring in the image, and used a water brush to blend the various colors.  When dry, I fussy cut around the image, leaving a thin white border. This helps the image POP from the background.  I used a very pale aqua print music paper for the background, and used foam tape to attached the stack of boxes. Using my Winnie & Walter, The Big, The Bold, and You clear stamp set, I stamped the large word "You" and the smaller word "for" in Danube Blue Memento Ink.  I then punched four hearts with my Fiskars heart punch, and glued one to each corner and highlighting them with the clear Wink of Stella glitter pen.

With no specific gift giving holiday stamped on the front, it can be used any time a gift is given. For a birthday, anniversary, get-well, or "just because"!  I hope you will all have a wonderful week, filled with many happy, crafty days. See you again soon.

Friend, you are Amazing!

Hello, friends! It is a New week, and Spring is just one day away. I am so happy that the weather has been sunny and warm for the last few days, it makes me want to get outdoors and work in the yard, planting flowers that will draw butterflies and birds into "my space"! But, according to the weatherman this evening, there is more cold weather and rain ahead in the forecast.

The Classy Cards N' Such Challenge of the Week this week is "Flutterbys", and I just love butterflies! I started this card with a piece of printed paper from the Spring Market Collection from Websters Pages, that has small butterflies on it. I cut two larger butterfly dies from Mandarin Curious Metallic and Onyx Stardream Metallic card stock, available in the Classy Cards N' Such Online Store.  I used my Copic markers and Wink of Stella glitter pens to color in various areas of the dies to make them seem more realistic.  I then cut the word "Friend" die from a scrap of the Mandarin Metallic paper and stamped "you are amazing" below it.  I tied a length of twine three times around the card spine before tying a square knot, which finished off the card front.

The supplies used from the Classy Cards online store were:
WP-WPK-31 Webster Pages Spring Market Collection Combo Pack,
TPC-577 Pluto-Onyx Stardream Metallic,
TPC-772 Mandarin Curious Metallic Card Stock

I hope you enjoy the final days of Winter, it has been such a long, cold, and devastating time, the hot, dry, 100 degree days of drought cannot be far behind.

Hello, My Friend!

My friends over at Winnie & Walter, are announcing their Second stamp and cut-files Release, March 15, 2014. This card was made from two stamp sets from their First Release, The Big, the Bold, and the Happy, and You've Got Love Mail. Their clear stamp sets are made in the USA, and are very good grade polymer.

Also, using a new die I recently ordered, "Howdy" from Die-Versions, I die cut along the folded edge of the card, so when the card was closed, the word Howdy pops up along the spine. When the card is open, it does not show.

By placing the sheet of orange card stock over the punching, I had room to add a strip of pink/brown dotted rick-rack along the edge of the card.  While the card was closed (pictured above) I stamped the heart line right below the flap.  I also stamped the words along the flap edge.  The dove was stamped with Tuxedo black Memento ink, masked, and then stamped the heart image in Love Letters Red Memento ink over the top.  When the mask was removed, it looks as if the dove is carrying the heart.  To bling up the card a little, I used my clear glitter pen to edge each of the letters in Howdy, and along the embossed edge of the front flap. I also outlined the dove and heart with the glitter pen.

Winnie & Walter's Second Release is all about Family, so go check out their blog to see the teasers, and register for their Big Giveaway! Happy Stampin' and have a great week!

Texas Independence Day!

Hi Everybody! This weekend we celebrate Texas Independence here in our fair state! I usually don't mail out too many cards for this day, but a friend, Mark Jetton, who owns Deadbeat Designs Stamps celebrates by having an Independence Day card challenge on his blog . Most of the stamps Mark makes are Texas themed stamps, although he does have many others that may be used for multiple occasions
If you are interested in "good, old fashioned, wood mounted, top quality rubber stamps", then check out Mark's web site Deadbeat Designs.and do some serious shopping.

I submitted two cards to his challenge, but am waiting for his posting of the contest before I describe my cards. You can visit his blog to vote on which cards you like best, beginning this weekend. Using scraps left over from my submissions, I put together this card to send to a friend who used to live here in San Antonio.

I took an A2 size card base and added two strips of brightly colored washi tape to the top. I then popped up the Texas banner from Deadbeat Designs on foam tape and centered it on top of the tape. I then stamped the large "happy" stamp from Winnie & Walter, along with a little handwriting for the sentiment on the front. The Texas shape stamp with the swirl filigree is also from Deadbeat Designs, and it was popped up on foam tape to cover a tiny doily stamping I didn't like after stamping it. To finish off the card, I used my clear Wink of Stella marker to add a bit of twinkle to the images.

Periodically, I enjoy using my "scraps" to make a few cards, thus using up some of my spare stampings and scraps of papers. (they stack up so quickly)  I hope you all have a great week, and visit with me again soon.

Cowgirl Becky

Hello friends!  I wasn't sure I would get this tag posted before our Stock Show and Rodeo closed this weekend.  February has been a crazy month for me, with the cold, cold weather, holidays, and an unexpected death in the family, I haven't been able to post any goodies this month.  I have been working on a few, but time just seems to slip away from me before I get them posted. Hopefully, I am back on track, and it will be much easier to post projects and card ideas in the future.

Today's card is a tag front using one of the New Julie Nutting Doll Stamps from Prima. I love, love, love these doll stamps, and "Becky" (the cowgirl) really spoke to me!  Ha Ha, I made a funny. . . . "spoke" . . . . . wagon wheel. . . . . Yee Ha!  The wagon wheel stamp is a new one from Deep Red Clingstamps, made in the USA.  Living here in Texas, I love all types of stamps that portray western life. I also picked up a wonderful clear set from My Favorite Things, called "Howdy"!  From this set, I used the star circle with dots as a hub cap for the wagon wheel, and the lasso rope that "Becky" is holding. The tiny random stars are a stamp from Deadbeat Designs, and the large word "hello" is from Winnie & Walter.  The background tag is one of the New tags from Prima, the Aquarelle Tag Pad which consists of beautiful pastel colors.

The Large Tag Pads from Prima are so wonderful, not only are they large enough to highlight the Julie Nutting Doll Stamps, they also give you lots of room for other mixed-media techniques. The other New Julie Nutting stamp I recently purchased is the doll stamp called "Mindy".  Of course, you may notice the connection of why I had to purchase that one, because my name is Mindy, and I will highlight her on a new tag early this coming week.

With the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo coming to a close this weekend here at home, and the Winter Olympic Games closing also,  I will probably be glued to the TV a few more days. (I also love the winter Olympic sports!)  We have also been forewarned there is another Arctic Front moving south from the North Pole, that should arrive here in So. Texas midweek.  So, I have a few more outdoor projects to tend to before the cold weather hits us again. Stay warm and safe, and have a pleasant rest of the weekend.  I will visit with you again soon.
