Fowls of the Air

Welcome to the Classy Cards 'n Such Blog, Mindy with you today to share a card I made from a New stamp set from the Classy Cards 'n Such online store. The card is called Fowls of the Air, and features a lovely bird with ferns and a scripture from Matthew 6:26.

I began this card by embossing a background with a wood grain embossing folder and then stamping the lovely bird from the Peace of God  stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps on watercolor paper and colored it in with watercolor pencils.  While this was drying, I stamped the sentiment also from this set on the watercolor paper and framed it with some green stock.  I thought the card needed a little something else, so I stamped three leaf sprigs from the Delightful Daisy Stamps from Heartfelt Creations. I stamped them on colored card stock, then highlighted them with a Clear Glitter Pen by Wink of Stella for sparkle.

After adhering all the elements of the card to the base, I added three Water Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest to add a little more sparkle and dimension to the card. I'm glad you stopped by today for a visit, and hope you will submit a card for our challenge this week.  Check the Challenge Calendar to see what we are working on this week.

Peace and Strength

Hi friends.  Mindy with you today with my card for this weeks' challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such blog, Roosters with a touch of Red and Black. Check out the inspiration photo on the challenge calendar for more inspiration.

My card begins with a background of Regular Embossing Paste from Dreamweaver pressed through a Mini Chicken Wire plastic stencil on red card stock. As this dried, I punched a frame from the Decorative Labels Eight die cut from Spellbinders, using a piece of card stock colored with the Alizarin Crimson Color Burst by Ken Oliver Crafts.  I then die-cut three Roosters and a Moo Moo Cow from Poppystamps to stack upon the Cow's back. I then mounted it on white stock, and trimmed a small border around the die frame before adhering it to the card base.

To complete my card, I added a few Cherry Chocolate Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest, and doodled dots around the edges with black and white ink.  The sentiment is from Peace of God Stamp Set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Thanks for visiting with me today, and be sure to check back daily for more inspiring cards.

You're the Best

Good afternoon, friends. Mindy with you today with another card suitable for Dad this Father's Day!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I struggle with making masculine cards for the men in my life. I try to minimize the flowers and the bling on them, but sometimes Dad enjoys flowers, too.

For this card, I knew I wanted to use the birdhouse image from Bird Haven PreCut stamp set from Heartfelt Creations. I colored the image with Distress Ink Markers from Tim Holtz so I could use a little water to blend the colors on the roses, leaves, and birdhouse. I set aside the image to dry, and started layering my background.

For the background, I used two sheets of paper from the French Kiss paper pad from Glitz Designs. Although this paper pad is no longer available from the Classy Cards 'n Such Online store, there are other Glitz Design pads available that will work just as well. I then added some decorative string and tied a knot to anchor it.

I then fussy cut around my image, leaving a small white border then mounted it on a piece of Kraft Colored Card Stock and fussy cut again, leaving another small border of the kraft colored card, before mounting it on the background with Joy! Foam Pads Large. To complete my card, I stamped a sentiment for Dad on a banner, and added a small squirrel from the Squirrel Set by Impression Obsession on top of the birdhouse.

Thank you for visiting with me today. Get busy and create a handmade card for your Dad this Father's Day, and don't forget to enter our weekly challenge on our blog.

Love You Forever

Mindy with you this morning struggling with a masculine card that so many of us have trouble creating.  Our challenge this week on the Classy Cards 'n Such blog is celebrating Father's Day with a card inspired by our terrific photo inspiration.

So many card makers today complain of having trouble creating masculine cards for the men in their lives, and I am one of them. I struggle to keep the flowers and bling to a minimum, and the colors are usually naturals and earth-tones.  After I learned to create scenic cards, it seems I have the best luck using them as cards for gentlemen. I started this card with a background using the Modern Cloud Cover stencil from Memory Box along with my Mini Ink Blending Tool by Ranger and a few Distress ink colors. I also added a few free-handed land masses for trees and a peaceful lake.  I also stamped some pine trees using The Woods stamp from Stacy Stamps to complete the background.

For the pier in the foreground, I used the Rustic Wagon die from Poppystamps cut twice, then removed the wheels for the wooden boards. The frame was die-cut from an Elizabeth Crafts die, then glued to the edges with Dries Clear Adhesive from the Art Institute.  To complete my card, I added a fishing pole, complete with a hand-tied fly from my best friends father.  The sentiment banner was stamped from the Keep in Touch, Too stamp set from Sweet and Sassy.

I hope my card has inspired you to create a masculine themed card for our weekly challenge. I can't wait to see what wonderful cards you create for your Father.

You Are Amazing

Greetings, friends. Mindy with you today to share a card that was so bright and cheery, I wanted to share it with you.  It will soon be on the way to a good friend, whose birthday is the same day as mine.

I started by using watercolor to color two beautiful Pristine Lilies from the stamp set by Heartfelt Creations. After they were dry, I fussy cut them out and set them aside to fully dry.  I then layered a sheet of white card stock cut from the Blueprints 13 die from My Favorite Things with the stitched edge.  I then colored a sheet of watercolor paper with Alizarin Crimson Color Bursts from Ken Oliver Crafts, and then added a small bit of the Orange to give it a two-tone coloring.  If you haven't tried the Color Bursts yet, I suggest you try the set of all six colors.  The colors are amazing, and priced very reasonably, and can be mixed to form the most beautiful backgrounds. From my two-toned paper I cut the Decorative Labels Eight die from Spellbinders and adhered it to the background.

As I was trying to decide on how to place my flowers, I found one of the Rectangles 6-in-1 Frame die from Impression Obsession laying on my desk, so I adhered it on an angle on my card front. I then placed my flowers inside the frame using Joy! Foam Pads Large and tied a dotted swiss ribbon bow to add with a tiny tag.  The sentiment on the tag is from the Just the Right Words stamp set by Just Rite Clear Stamps.

I hope you have enjoyed my card, and will visit again for daily card inspiration at Classy

Wedding Cake

Our challenge this week at the Classy Cards 'n Such blog is #88 June Bride.  Mindy here, sharing my card.  The colors from the inspiration photo spoke to me as being so soft and delicate, that I decided to decorate my Wedding Cake with beautiful soft pink roses.

The lovely wedding cake was die cut from the beautiful Wedding Cake die by Impression Obsession. Along with the three tier cake and stand, comes borders, roses, bows, and the topper.  To give the cake layers more dimension, I used a shaped pallet knife and added a layer of molding paste to layers to look as if they had been iced.

My background on my card base was cut from the Rectangles 6-in-1 Frame die by Impression Obsession and the two large layers of the Fleur de Elegance die by Spellbinders.  The cake was then adhered to the ovals with Joy! Foam Pads Large really give the card dimension. To complete my card I added a LOVE die cut and banner tag from my stash, along with a little sparkle for pizzazz!

I hope you will be inspired by our cards this week and join our creative challenge to be eligible to win a wonderful prize from the Classy Cards Online Store.

Congratulations

Welcome to another card created by Mindy for the Classy Cards n' Such Blog. Thank you for stopping by and visiting with us today.

This card was very simple to make with a rectangle of card stock 3.75"X 5.5", an A2 size card base, and the Mary Border Strip by Spellbinders.  I centered both pieces of the die, both the outline and center strip, in the middle of the rectangle of card stock and ran it through my die-cut machine. After using my Tool 'n One, also by Spellbinders, to flick out all of the tiny bits, I adhered the center detailed piece down the center of my card with the Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.  I then trimmed the side pieces to allow some of the white card base to show through and adhered them along the top and bottom.

To complete the card, I adhered Mother of Pearl Rhinestones from Want2Scrap in the center of each medallion and three at the top corner. I also added a stamped banner and flower from my stash.

Thanks for joining me today, and I hope you will visit again.

Bee Friendly

Hello, friends. Thank you for joining me with my Weekly Challenge card at Classy Cards 'n Such. Mindy here to share with you my card titled "Bee Friendly"!

Our challenge this week takes the inspiration photo on the blog and add to it a pretty little buzzin' bee! I started my card with a background piece from the Watercolored Memories pad by Ken Oliver Crafts.  I used the soft muted color side of the paper and attached it to my card base. I then began stamping and cutting the dies I wanted to use for my scene. I started with the Arianna Blooms Stamp set from Heartfelt Creations. I stamped several of the smaller flowers on Heavyweight Vellum and then colored them on the reverse side with markers, before forming them with my Susan's Garden Tool Kit.

I then added a leaf flourish, Open Scroll Leaf from Impression Obsession along with some flowers from the Garden Bouquet die set from Poppy Stamps. I then added the Patient Pup die, also from Poppy Stamps.  To complete the card, I added three bees from Elizabeth Crafts, the sentiment from Greeting Set by Impression Obsession and several rhinestones in the center of the small flowers.

I hope you have enjoyed this card, and will join us with your entry in this week's challenge.
