Butterfly Collage

I love butterflies, but I think I have mentioned that before.  Mindy with you today with another Butterflies are Free card, celebrating the many butterflies available with the Butterfly Medley stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations.

I started by stamping the Butterfly Medley stamp Set on card stock and coloring them in with various colors of Distress Markers by Tim Holtz, and then die cutting them with the Butterfly Medley die set also from Heartfelt Creations.  I then used the two larger butterfly dies also included in the die set, and cut three butterflies from watercolor paper that was colored with Ken Oliver Color Bursts pigments.

I then arranged my collage of butterflies on my card front and adhered them with Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive and Joy! Foam Pads- Large, alternating adhesives to give my card front depth and dimension.  A few Teardrop Bling Pearls were added, along with a banner and saying from my stash, and my card was complete.

Thanks for visiting with me today, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Daisy Birthday

Happy Wednesday friends.  Mindy visiting with you today, with my card for this week's challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such.  My card, Daisy Birthday, is inspired by the beautiful colors included in this week's inspiration photo on the Blog.  The challenge, using Color and Pattern, is a fairly simple concept to achieve.  I hope you will all create a card for this challenge and submit it for a chance at a wonderful prize.

Now on with my submission!  I started by making a patterned background with the Cascading Ferns Background stamp by JustRite Stampers on my card base. I then die cut the elegant scroll background with the Fleur de Elegance die from Spellbinders and adhered it to the card base with Joy! Foam Pads- Large.

Next, I stamped the Daisies stamp set from Stacy Stamps  on watercolor paper, both the single flower and the background flowers.  I colored the blooms with Distressed Ink Markers-from Tim Holtz in both Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade.  I cut the background stamp in an oval, and fussy cut the single daisy so that I could pop it up with the foam tape.  A birthday banner stamp from my stash was used to finish my card.

I hope you have enjoyed my creation, and will join us in our weekly challenge fun!

Wish on a STAR-fish

Happy Summer everyone! Mindy here, wishing you a Happy Birthday if you celebrate during the months of June, July, and August!  Our challenge this week on our blog was to make a card with the theme "At the Beach". I had some shells left over from that card, and decided to use them for a birthday celebration card for a dear friend.

I started with a sand colored card base and added some "beachy" colored paper for the background.
From the Graphic 45 paper pad, By the Sea I found the embellishment card that said, "make a
wish on a starfish" and several coordinating ribbon strips that I could add to the card front.  I then decorated several of the shells from the Shell Set by Impression Obsession, especially the starfish and two others with a bit of glitter to make them sparkle and attached them with Joy! Foam Squares-Large.

I stamped a banner with the sentiment from the Keep in Touch, Too stamp set, and tied a twine bow to the banner to complete my card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card, and will join us for our challenge this week. Be sure to check the requirements on the Challenge Page before submitting your card.  We love to see what you create!

Beach Rules

Oh, I wish I were at the beach!  Mindy posting today wishing I was at the beach with the sand squishing up between my toes. I love the beach, and from where I live, it is only three hours away.  Our challenge this week at Classy Cards 'n Such is "At the Beach" and I hope you will join in and create a card that celebrates the wildlife, shells, anything that pertains to the beach. . . . but NO people allowed!

My card features a wreath die-cut from the Impression Obsession die Twig Wreath from natural card stock.  I then used the Shell Set also from IO to cut the various shells and decorate each one with Distresses Inks and a little glitter. I positioned each shell on the wreath with Joy! Foam Pads -Large, and Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.

I then decorated the card base with a piece of scrapbook paper from my stash,  before adhering two elements from the Graphic 45 paper pad By The Sea. My wreath was then attached with foam tape, and a string bow added at the base of the wreath.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you have enjoyed my card.

Bouquet of Roses

Congratulations are in order for this beautiful bouquet of roses, sent with love on this special day.  Mindy with you today to share a card I recently made using a great New die.  When I saw this die available from Memory Box in the Classy Cards 'n Such Online store, I knew I had to have it. Not only are roses my favorite flowers, but there are so many techniques that can be used to color them.

The technique I used on this card, is the filled-in stained glass effect, using the English Rose Bouquet die from Memory Box. I die-cut the bouquet and adhered the outline die to the card front with Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive and let it dry completely.  I then shaded the interior of the roses with Copic markers and added a layer of clear Diamond Glaze Adhesive.  The glue stays inside the cut out border and dries to a shiny finish.  I also added a touch of color to the embossed leaves.

To finish off the card, I die cut a tag using the Grommet Tags die from Spellbinders, which are now on sale at the Classy Cards Store. I stamped the sentiment from the Keep in Touch, Too Stamp Set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  Some Silver Rock Candy embellishments from Queen and Co. were added along with a ribbon tied in a knot.

Thank you for joining me today for some card inspiration.

Dream Come True

Mindy posting a card today that reminds me of  a special time in my life, going on a picnic with my family.  We loved to take day trips, that were not too far from home, but would be like a "mini" vacation on the weekends. Our challenge this week at Classy Cards 'n Such is Summer Picnic Color using the colors of kraft, red, and white.

I started my scenic card by die cutting the Woodland Tree Silhouette die by Memory Box from kraft card stock and then ran it through the Bricks and Bark embossing folder by Spellbinders to give it texture. I highlighted the bark embossing with ink so the texture would show more before adding the leaves from Impression Obsession and the Leaf Clusters die.  The blanket grouping was assembled next, with the jug of lemonade made from the Small Canning Jar by Memory Box, Carolers and Kite die cut set from Impression Obsession.

There were a few add-on embellishments that were either leftovers from other cards (white flowers, title strip) or hand cut (lemonade glasses).  The grass cluster stamp and multi colored twine were both from my stash.

I want to thank you all for looking at my card, and hope a small bit of it inspires you to create a card of your own to enter in our challenge. Be sure to check out the requirements listed under Current Challenge, they are very important to follow, because we love to see what you come up with.

Picnic Today

It's summer time, and a great day for a picnic. Our challenge this week on the blog is #93 Summer Picnic Color, featuring the colors of kraft, red, and white.  When I heard the theme was picnic, I knew immediately the stamp I wanted to use. Mindy with you today, sharing my Picnic themed card.

I ordered the Gazebo Try-fold card by Art Impressions last year, and have only used it a few times. Although it can be used for weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays, I thought it would be great promoting a summer picnic.  The instructions included with the stamp, are to make a card that has three sections of stamping, that when folded together make a wonderful interactive card.  This time I only wanted to make a one-layer card, to show the entire scene on the front of the card.

After coloring with my Copic markers, I trimmed around the entire image and added a border of red card stock and trimmed again. I added dimension to the sign on the easel with Joy! Foam Pads- Large, and even more dimension with some clear adhesive on the sign, balloons, and flower pot.
I embossed a rectangle of kraft colored stock with the Bricks and Bark M-Bossabilities by Spellbinders, and attached it to the front of my card.  I then adhered the picnic scene to the card front to complete my card.

I hope you enjoy our sample cards this week, and will enter one of your own creations to our challenge.  Happy Stamping!

Birthday Butterfly

A fresh and fun card to celebrate a birthday this Thursday afternoon. Mindy with you today with a casual and simple card that only looks difficult and fancy.

The die cut used is the Fancy Floral Butterfly Corner by Cottage Cutz and the Faiery Queen Butterfly by Cheery Lynn Designs.  The Faiery Queen is no longer available in the Classy Cards Store, but there are so many beautiful butterflies from other companies that can be substituted.  I cut the corner three times, twice for the card length and one to cut apart to give dimension to the various elements.

I covered the card base with a sheet of the Watercolored Memories 6" x 6" paper pad from Ken Oliver Crafts, before adhering the butterfly corners and single butterfly die. A banner with the sentiment from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Keep in Touch, Too set was adhered below the large butterfly.

Thanks, for joining me today, and be sure to visit again for more great card ideas daily from our wonderful design team.

Your Special Day

Celebrate, friends!  Summer is in full swing, and this is Mindy with you this morning, sharing a fun technique to use as a background on a card this summer.  Our challenge this week is called "Splatter" and that is exactly what I did for this background.

To start, I cut a rectangle of  watercolor paper just a bit bigger than my A 2  size card base.  I then took an Empty Spritzer Bottle from Tsukeniko, a small amount of water, and the Ultramarine Blue Color Burst by Ken Oliver Crafts.  You can mix as little or as much of the liquid as you wish in the spritzer, then replace the cap and shake well to mix.  When the color is as dark as you want, unscrew the spritzer and tap the stem on your paintbrush handle to form spatters on your watercolor paper.  I also used the Alizarin Crimson Color Burst and the Violet Color Burst to spatter in three colors. After air drying, the watercolor paper was trimmed to fit my card base.

I cut the Decorative Labels Twenty Seven die by Spellbinders and attached a stamping of the daisy cluster from the  Peacock Swirls stamp set by Heartfelt Creations. I added a second shaped daisy on top of the stamping, and added copper colored micro-beads for the center embellishment. I adhered the entire unit to the card front with Joy! Foam Pads- Large and added a piece of Ivory cotton teardrop trim colored with the Crimson Color Burst.  The sentiment used was from the Mums stamp set by JustRite Stamps.

I hope this card has inspired you to get out your ink, some paint, or Color Bursts if you have them and spatter up a storm!  We would love to see your creations for this week's Card Challenge. Please join us at Classy Cards 'n Such!

Summer Sunshine

Happy Thursday! Mindy with you today sharing a card that celebrates June and Summer, two of my favorite times of the year.

This card was designed with the Time to Flourish paper pad by Graphics 45. This paper pad is designed with the twelve months of the year featured, and the holidays that fall in that month. There are two double sided sheets dedicated to each month, which gives you plenty of embellishments and backgrounds for cards and pages. For my card base, I used a sheet of the Starburst Lichen Aspire Petallic Metallic paper sold in the Classy Cards 'n Such Online Store.

After attaching my layers to the card front, I stamped several of the flowers and leaf from the Delightful Daisy stamps from Heartfelt Creations, and using my Paper Blossom Tool Kit shaped then adhered the flowers to my card.  Within just a few moments, I had a lovely card suitable for a Birthday or just Thinking of You.

Thank you for visiting with me today. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Bikin' at the Beach

Happy Wednesday friends. Thank you for joining me, Mindy, at the Classy Cards 'n Such blog this week for our challenge Purple Ride.  I had so much fun designing a card using a bike and the color purple, with the inspiration photo provided.

I started my card by embossing a sheet of watercolor paper with the folder Shell Corner by Darice. I fussy cut around the embossed shells to use as an element on my card. I also added sparkle to the shells with my Clear Glitter Pen by Wink of Stella.

I decorated the base card with sections of patterned paper from the Time to Flourish pad by Graphics 45. The Basket Bicycle cling stamp by Poppystamps was stamped on Amethyst Stardream Metallic card stock then die-cut with the matching Basket Bicycle die also from Poppystamps. The bicycle and shell border were popped up on the card using Joy! Foam Pads Large to give texture and dimension to the design.

Thank you again for joining me today.  Why not create a card for our Purple Ride Challenge and submit it for a chance at a wonderful prize.  The Challenge instructions are available on the "Current Challenge" page on our web site www.classycardsnsuch.blogspot.com. Hope to see you there!
